Allow each layer to become touch dry before adding further colour or detail. If the colour appears pale or watery, reduce the amount of water and continue working the cake.

How Long Does It Take to Dry?

Thin, correctly activated layers are generally touch dry in under a minute. Heavier application, excess water, temperature and humidity can increase drying time, so check that each layer feels touch dry before adding detail or another colour.
